Product Launch of the Year 2020 winners revealed

The winners of the Retail Industry Awards Product Launch of the Year Awards 2020 were unveiled during a virtual ceremony at 3pm today (22 January).

The Product Launch of the Year Awards were added to the Retail Industry Awards line up in 2011 to celebrate the efforts of supplier partners who continuously develop new products, brand extensions, and packaging updates.

The nominations this year were separated into nine vital categories: alcohol, chilled, confectionery, crisps and snacks, frozen, grocery, soft drinks, tobacco, and vaping and smoking alternatives. There was also a special award for supplier Sales Team of the Year.

To be eligible for nomination, products must have been launched in the 12 months to 31 March 2020 and have been widely available to the convenience trade during that period. Any new SKU was eligible, whether a new product, brand extension or significant packaging innovation.

The winners are as follows:

Alcohol: Gordon’s Premium Pink Distilled Gin 350ml, Diageo

Chilled: Twix Milk Drink, Mars Chocolate Drinks & Treats

Confectionery: Cadbury Twirl Orange, Mondelēz International

Crisps & Snacks: Walkers Best Ever Cheese & Onion crisps, PepsiCo

E-cigarettes: Logic Compact, JTI UK

Frozen: Magnum Ruby, Unilever

Grocery: Maltesers Biscuits, Mars Chocolate Drinks & Treats

Soft Drinks: Lucozade Energy Watermelon & Strawberry Cooler, Suntory Beverage & Food

Tobacco: Sterling Dual Capsule Leaf Wrapped Cigarillos, JTI UK

Sales Team of the Year: Bobby’s Foods
