What is your current role at FastSpring?

My current role at FastSpring is the Senior Business Development Representative at our Amsterdam office.

How long have you been in your current role?

I’ve been with FastSpring for just over a year in total, and in my most recent role, almost a month!

Has it been challenging to perform your role during this remote work time due to COVID-19?

Remote work definitely comes with challenges, but I make it a priority to check in with colleagues, take a quick walk around the neighborhood, and block off my time where possible for important tasks. All in all, we have been able to support each other during tough times, and thankfully, we have all the resources available to perform our roles successfully.

What did you do before FastSpring/How did you get to where you are today?

Before FastSpring, I held another Sales Development role at DocuSign. This role was primarily managing inbound leads, which gave me more opportunities to explore my outbounding capabilities. Ramping and scaling those skill sets has always been of importance to me, which brought me to FastSpring.

What inspired you to join FastSpring?

A friend of mine was very successful here, and I always loved catching up with them and hearing about their experiences at FastSpring. This allowed me to also get a good understanding of the product itself, and hearing how much it supported the growing industry of ecommerce was a huge factor for me.

What made you want to join our Sales team?

The Amsterdam team itself was a big factor for me, given how multicultural and diverse we all are! Aside from a great team to work alongside, training and learning opportunities were important to me, and I found FastSpring to tick all the boxes on that. With new sales methodologies, on-going training, and learning, as well as being able to make a big impact in my role.

What does a typical day look like for Rachael at FastSpring?

My typical day will start at 8 am, covering the inbound leads and inquiries that have come in over the weekend or overnight. Helping potential customers get the best understanding of how they would benefit from partnering with FastSpring and aligning the necessary resources to carry them through their evaluation. Once I have cleared the morning build-up, I manage inquiries throughout the day while also managing my outbound prospecting efforts. Throughout the day, I catch up with colleagues for role plays, (virtual) coffees, and continuous learning!

What excites you every day about working at FastSpring?

Watching FastSpring grow and playing a part in it really excites me, I’ve seen many changes and so much growth across the board. With even more product improvements and investments in our professional growth, I am really excited to see what the next six months of 2020 will bring!

Describe a favorite memory of your time at FastSpring.

In February of this year, we all came together for the Annual FastSpring Summit in Santa Barbara. This was my first time meeting with my fellow Business Development team members, and it was really great to connect with everyone across the board. It gave me even more of a sense of the family culture we have built. Having that opportunity to connect in such a beautiful environment, and make great memories was (so far) my favorite memory.

What are your favorite hobbies and activities outside of work?

Moving to Amsterdam for the role at FastSpring gave me more of a scope to try new hobbies and activities. I’ve recently adopted a vegetarian lifestyle, so cooking up new recipes and enjoying them with my housemates is an activity we all enjoy. Plus, the ability to go everywhere by bike is pretty awesome, and I’ve been lucky enough to enjoy some of the most beautiful cycling routes available throughout the city and out in the scenic Dutch countryside!

What is a fun fact most people may not know about you?

If I do say so myself, I’m partial to a good impression. I have a few different impressions, but by far, my favorite has been my 1920’s New Yorker impression. Here’s a picture of the time I went all out for our Sale’s org. This was our team building Murder Mystery event, and I even included a New Yorker accent to go along with it!
