KP Snacks is launching an on-pack promotion across its core range to help recover sales of single snacking products and revitalise the lunchtime occasion.

The “Win £2,021” competition will kick off from 24 May and run for eight weeks across KP Snacks’ Hula Hoops, McCoy’s, Skips, Nik Naks, Discos, and Wheat Crunchies single and £1 price-marked packs.

Shoppers who enter by texting the last four digits of the barcode from a promotional pack will be entered into a draw to “win the year in cash” – £2,021.

The promotion looks to support retailers as they recover food-to-go and impulse snacking sales, as KP said lunchtime is still the number one occasion for single bags.

Matt Collins, trading director at KP Snacks, said core brands account for 97% of single bag sales and the new promotion aims to recognise this, focusing on core brand rather than new launches, with the aim to “drive purchase repertoire and frequency”.

He added that food-to-go is a resilient trend and is expected to return to pre-Covid (2019) levels by 2022.

“We know that previously it was a hero category that has undoubtedly faced big challenges as a result of the pandemic, through reduced mobility, stay at home messaging and lockdowns.

“That said, we believe that food-to-go is a long-term and resilient growth trend, serving what will remain as a transient population and on-the-go society, as people revert to old habits and ways of working.

“The category is insulated for recovery and we expect the market to rebound to growth, as both restrictions ease, as the vaccination programme goes from strength-to-strength and with it, frequency will return.”
