Expanding your eCommerce offering to new global markets is daunting. The key to success: creating a strategic plan tailored to your unique business needs in addition to the market conditions. My report, “Create Your Global eCommerce Road Map,” is here to help.

Digital business professionals must build a strategic road map for their global eCommerce expansions by:

  1. Identifying opportunities before expanding into new markets. To achieve your global eCommerce vision, you clearly need a detailed understanding of the landscape of new markets. Often undervalued by firms in global expansion plans, however, is the company’s own internal capabilities and limitations.
  2. Determining which approach best suits your business. There are several approaches to eCommerce globalization (e.g., cross-border shipping, online marketplaces, etc.). Take stock of your budget and goals to pick the globalization approach that suits your company’s needs — and (importantly!) that meets local market conditions.
  3. Prioritizing certain elements of localization. Few digital business professionals have the resources to localize 100% of their content in a new market. Prioritizing a handful of site features — customer service and payments, for example — will go a long way in driving in-country sales. (PS — Check out my other new report to understand the seven must-have features for website localization.)
