The event sees local suppliers invited to speak with James Hall & Co’s trading team, who are responsible for procuring product ranges for 600 independent and company-owned Spar stores.

Andrew Barnes, trading director at James Hall & Co, said: “Across our group of companies – Spar, Clayton Park Bakery, Fazila Foods and Graham Eyes High Class Butchers – we’ve always tried to work with local suppliers, however big or small; but it’s now more vital than ever. It puts money back into local communities, helps reduce food miles in the supply chain, minimises environmental impact, and helps develop sustainable, long-term partnerships.

“We look forward to working with the Lancashire Chamber of Commerce and its members and hopefully we’ll find a few new local gems to stock in our stores.”

Babs Murphy, chief executive at NWL chamber of commerce, added: “The pandemic has had a considerable impact on many different types of business across Lancashire. The chamber’s intentions for 2021 are to support our members, ensure their recovery is strong and assist them with future-proofing their business as much as possible.

“One of our key priorities is to further create an appetite for local companies to support each other by buying locally, and we are grateful to James Hall & Co for working with the chamber to support this aim and promote our shared values.”
