Golden Acre removes added sugar from yogurt range

Golden Acre Foods has removed added sugar from its range of Fat Free yogurts, in response to the “ongoing concern over obesity and the health impact of sugar”.

The new recipe is being rolled out for its Strawberry, Raspberry and Peach & Passionfruit flavours, available in 100g and 150g pots.

The move sees a reduction of more than 200 tonnes of sugar across a range of six products, which the brand said is enough sugar to fill more than 1,300 bath tubs.

The new recipe means the yogurts are now in line with government guidelines and schools compliant.

They can be stored ambient, making them a “popular product choice” for stores with limited chilled space or for grab bag lunches many schools have implemented as a result of Covid-19.

The entry deadline for the Retail Industry Awards – which reward excellence across a raft of different categories – has been extended to to 11 June. Find everything you need to enter here.
