The store, which has been owned and operated by Tony Cristofaro since August 2013, usually benefits from passing trade from tourists and office workers due to its proximity to commercial building. However, it was forced to close during the height of the pandemic. Cristofaro tweeted in April 2020: “Sorry we’ve had to close, but the Covid-19 situation was becoming too risky for our team and also financially. We hope to see you again soon.”

He said he feared the closure might last some time. “The government grants will support us for a while, but no idea what will happen if the lockdown lasts more than a few months.”

New owner Gandhi has a portfolio of city centre businesses.

Jamie Williams, senior business agent in Christie & Co’s Retail team, said: “This is the ninth completion in the region this year as demand for convenience stores continues to surge. It is undoubtedly a seller’s market so if you are considering your options, please get in touch.”
