This article is brought to you by Retail Technology Review: commercetools and BloomReach launch digital experience ecommerce solution for retailers and brands.

commercetools, the next-generation commerce software solutions provider, and BloomReach, the digital experience platform company, have released an integrated version of their commerce and digital experience platforms. The Starter Store comprising BloomReach and commercetools is targeted at upper mid-size retailers and brands.

Both BloomReach and commercetools were recently named a ‘Visionary’ in their respective Gartner Magic Quadrant and both are built utilising a modern, API-based architecture. This flexible design enables retailers and brands to create highly customised digital ecosystems in which to sell and merchandise their products. The Starter Store, which can be implemented by internal IT organisations, digital agencies or system integrators, shaves six to eight months off the time for a typical content and commerce platform migration. The combined solution has already been implemented for brands in fashion and optical retailing.

“Usually, companies need six to twelve months to implement e-commerce capabilities,” explains Dirk Hoerig, CEO of commercetools. “Due to the Starter Store this will be possible in only six to eight weeks – a significant reduction that will make it possible to realise new e-commerce strategies and respond to market changes in almost real time. As a headless commerce platform, commercetools complements the BloomReach portfolio on a level like no other software. It is great to see that the work we have put in over the past year is now paying off and that our partnership with BloomReach has made this exciting joint development possible.”

Available now directly for retailers and through a global network of partners, the Starter Store is a modern best-of-breed commerce approach that brands can leverage to engage with their customers in dynamic new ways, while driving increased omnichannel revenue.

The BloomReach digital experience platform (DXP) is an API-oriented set of enterprise technologies including content management (CMS) and AI-powered site search and merchandising tools that provide brands with a consistent, secure and personalised digital experience across all digital touchpoints.

“Brands today must connect with a variety of audiences across many touchpoints", said Raj De Datta, CEO and cofounder of BloomReach. "Plus, they must innovate quickly to create engaging experiences that act on customer trends. Traditional commerce platforms can't meet these requirements as they were built solely for transactions. BloomReach and commercetools meet the future by pairing an experience platform with a headless commerce platform, and connecting them through microservices and APIs."
