Chevron, Handy Mart Operators Deploy AI-Powered Predictive Analytics to Streamline Operations

Welcome Break

Regional convenience and fuel retailers H&S Energy of California, E.J. Pope & Son of North Carolina and Welcome Break in the UK have implemented AI optimization tools from Hypersonix to support functionalities including real-time fuel pricing and streamlined merchandising.

The Hypersonix enterprise AI platform allows companies in the convenience and fuel segment to provide non-technical business stakeholders with AI-powered diagnostic, predictive and prescriptive analytics that allow them to make better, faster decisions.

Among the businesses now deploying solutions from Hypersonix are:

  • H&S Energy — a retail, gasoline and convenience store operator with approximately 113 locations throughout California, most of which are branded as Chevron locations. H&S also operates Power Market and Extra Mile convenience and food store locations. Initially, H&S is leveraging Hypersonix to support real time-fuel pricing as well as optimize merchandising in their stores.
  • E.J. Pope & Son — a third generation, family-owned company that operates the Handy Mart convenience store chain across eastern North Carolina. Handy Mart stores feature a number of food concepts including Handy Mart Kitchens as well as partnerships with Which Wich, Subway and Godfather’s Pizza. The chain is using the Hypersonix analytics platform to gather and assess data about the cross relationships among its fuel, retail and QSR business segments.
  • Welcome Break — one of the largest motorway operators in the UK with 44 service areas and 31 hotels across the country. Welcome Break fuel forecourts, EV charging and amenity buildings attract 85 million customers annually. Welcome Break locations also feature a number of QSR brands such as Starbucks, KFC, Burger King, Subway, Pizza Express and Pret A Manger. The company is working with Hypersonix to centralize its data analytics across the enterprise to enable better sales and marketing decisions.

“We pride ourselves on being a local, family-owned business with deep roots in the areas we serve, but we understand that yesterday’s technology won’t get us to where we need to go,” said David Bunch, COO at E.J. Pope & Son in a statement. “Our partnership with Hypersonix has helped us glean actionable insight to inform our continued growth strategy and expand our services with integrated AI.”
