Nisa key account retailers sampled Co-op own label wines, featured in its Christmas licensed pre-sell brochure, at a virtual wine tasting last week.

The symbol group’s partners had the opportunity to meet the wine buyers, as well as to learn some of the background to three wines from the Co-op Irresistible collection: Prosecco, Gavi and Malbec.

Co-op wine buyers Ben Cahill, Sarah Benson and senior wine buyer Gyles Walker hosted the event, alongside Nisa’s wholesale category controller Danielle Sylvester, who shared information about the wines and answered questions from participating retailers.

Retailer Valerie Aston, director at Scarborough-based Proudfoot Supermarkets, said: “The evening was a fantastic idea; it presented a great opportunity to us to learn about the category, product provenance and how we can improve our own offers in our stores, especially in the run up to Christmas and the fact that we could get involved from our own homes or offices was just ideal.”

Adam Vincent, director at Dike and Son in Stalbridge, added: “In these uncertain times it was a refreshing change to get together, via computer of course, with other like-minded retailers along with some very clever people at the forefront of their industry who gave us the latest information on trends and upcoming lines not to miss out on.

“The opportunity to try some wines that otherwise we may have overlooked was very much welcomed and I look forward to recommending them to our customers soon.”
