The stores will get the new ranges during August, with up to five stores being converted every week this month. Another eight will follow in September, taking the total to 60 since the first store was converted in March.

The retailer said that big sellers at converted stores have been: Ginsters, Cathedral City, Lurpak, Sutherland deep fill sandwiches, and Rustlers cheeseburgers. In addition, Bernard Matthews chicken breast and Birds Eye cod fillets, Aunt Bessie’s, McCain, and Young’s have been selling well.

Austin Cooke, Poundland retail director, said: “We know that shoppers have got a real appetite four our chilled and frozen food offer which is why we are cracking on and converting up to five stores every week.

“This is a key part of our transformation plans so that we can bring as many customers as possible even more choice and amazing value in chilled and frozen food.”

Poundland stores being converted in August are located in: Barnsley, Birmingham, Coventry, Derby, Dudley, Leamington Spa, Kidderminster, Kings Lynn, Leicester, Loughborough, Peterborough, Sheffield, Solihull, West Bromwich, and Wolverhampton.
