In total 41 stores are now trading with the symbol group, all of which will convert to Nisa stores in due course, and there are plans to grow this number during 2021.

Ascona Group is also showcasing the first Nisa Express store format, which was unveiled at the group’s New County Service Station in Clophill, Bedfordshire in October, officially launching the same week the new format was revealed at Nisa’s virtual trade show.

Paul Stoddart, retail trading director at Ascona Group, said: “As we grow it’s important for us to keep improving our offer to our customer base; moving away from that traditional transient offer for a forecourt of just tobacco and soft drinks and improving the range to add in more chilled products and fresh foods.

“We are changing the proposition in our stores and want our customers to have the confidence that they can come to us and find a full range of products and everything they need for their meal for tonight and for later in the week.

“Working with Nisa has allowed us to do this successfully and the support will be invaluable as we head through the next six months and continue to transition our stores to Nisa, with refits, Nisa fascia and new range for our customers.”

Head of key accounts at Nisa, Victoria Lockie, added: “We know Ascona Group have ambitious plans to further expand their business and we’re really excited to be partnering with them and supporting them on their journey. It’s been a very fast-paced start to the relationship and we’re looking forward to more of the same next year.”
