Newry-based S&W Wholesale, which was established in 1916, delivers to the whole of Ireland.

S&W managing director, Michael Skelton, said: “It is safe to say that 2020 proved an unpredictable year in retail. As the pandemic hit, our front-line retail stores and entire staff had to adjust, step up and show leadership as we adapted to what unfolded. We met this challenge head-on and so did our independent retailers with their commitment and determination to continue serving their communities.

“Therefore, we wanted to further galvanise our support for our retailers by joining Retail NI and providing them with a voice and a platform for showcasing the importance of convenience retail in NI.”

Retail NI chief executive, Glyn Roberts, added: “We are delighted to welcome S&W and 90 Today’s NI stores as members of Retail NI. We know they will make a huge contribution to our ongoing work of ensuring the voice of the independent retailers and wholesalers is heard at all levels of government.

“Over the past five years, Retail NI has significantly increased its membership, recruiting independent retailers of all kinds and suppliers to our sector. With a perfect storm of crises of Brexit and pandemic, businesses now more than ever recognise the importance of having a strong trade voice.”
