A dedicated ice-cream brochure was launched to partners that highlighted key products to stock supported by category insights and details on the latest newcomers to the market, all available to buy through the Nisa catalogue. Co-op own label has also launched new SKUs in the category, including a new vegan brand of GRO ice cream lines that comprise individual ice cream treats as well as share tubs, in addition to a selection of branded new products.

Sorren Ashmore, wholesale category controller at Nisa said: “Ice-cream really is one of the biggest growth drivers with the average basket spend increased from £7.63 to £9.86 when an ice cream product is included.

“With ice cream being a destination category for stores, we want to provide as much help and support for partners as we can so they can exploit these sales opportunities.”

Ashmore added: “A massive 95% of all ice cream sales are bought on impulse and with basket spend increasing by 29% when ice cream is included, it’s certainly worth stocking this year’s must-try new lines.”
