The ever-growing commercial need for automated warehousing configured to meet the increasing demand created by internet shopping has provided another growth niche for UK firm Selectronic.

The Oxfordshire company has found that its expanded engineering capability has enabled it to configure complete display modules to meet customers' specific applications. One market is automated warehousing - providing rapid product picking to fast shipment allows customers to keep well ahead in the internet shopping league where time is of the essence.

Selectronic specialise in getting the right product for each project and it has been a leader in opto-electronics and active displays since 1979. "Optimising the specification, matching the requirements of the customer's application exactly and completing the project on time while offering high levels of innovation - that is the difference Selectronic offers." said Managing Director Kevin Dry. "The right design choice in the latest opto-electronic or display technologies really can set a customer's product apart."

For one customer, a giant logistics company, Selectronic was faced with a clear display requirement. In this case, using its product SEL0201-MODEL-VRB-A0, it was translated into a completed display case including all terminals for data entry and required cabling. In addition, the LED display was matched to the driver electronics that exactly matched the requirements of the customer. "Each picking station can be configured and then the display optimised to meet the requirements of that particular facility," explains Dry. "The hard plastic case, with a selection of mounting points, is custom made for the application and well able to match the requirements of the environment where the unit is located."

"This customisation of a display to meet the requirements of a particular application opens the door for Selectronic to provide retail and service providers with a 'one stop' location to source displays," added Dry. "We can provide a stand-alone unit exactly configured to their particular requirements rather than them having to pull various elements together to match their needs."
