Year in Review: The Top 10 Wiser Blogs of 2021

Phew! 2021 was a busy year for Wiser Solutions. We launched our Commerce Execution Suite, welcomed new teammates in our Paris and Monterrey offices, added more in-store and online solutions, and rolled out a bunch of features and services to make your job easier.

We also published 70 blogs in 2021! We covered pricing tips, in-store execution, eCommerce ideas, shopper behavior, and much more. On the off-chance you missed something, we’ve taken a look back at our most popular blogs published between January 1 and December 28, 2021.

We hope you enjoy this recap and cheers to a happy, healthy, and profitable new year! Plenty more coming soon in 2022.

1. How to Conduct—and Win—a Competitive Pricing Analysis

A successful pricing strategy starts with a strong competitive pricing analysis. In this blog, we look at how you can perform your own competitor analyses, from identifying your true competitors to using customer reviews to refine your pricing.

2. Dynamic Pricing: What Is It, Why Use It, and How to Implement It

Setting the right price at the right time is often easier said than done. That’s why dynamic pricing is such an enticing proposition for retailers. We added some new topics to this blog, first published way back in 2013, on the perks of dynamic pricing and how you can implement this type of pricing strategy in your business.

3. Direct Store Delivery vs. Warehousing: Which is Right for Your Brand?

Getting your products from the warehouse to your customer is one of the hardest parts of retail. There are a variety of options for brand manufacturers, including direct store delivery and warehousing. We put together this blog to go over these two strategies and give you a checklist to choose the best one for your business.

4. What Is Showrooming and What Should You Do About It?

With shoppers having more choices than ever, it’s increasingly difficult for retailers to win the sale at the shelf. One reason why is showrooming—when consumers visit physical stores to see a product but use their smartphones to find the lowest price online. This can cost retailers the sale, so we wrote this blog to cover how to stop showrooming and turn consumer behavior into a positive.

5. The Top 5 Reasons Why You Should Consider A Pricing Engine

Pricing engines never go out of style, which is why we spruced up this blog, originally published in 2015. We added in new reasons why a pricing engine can work for you and shared some more context about the pros of this tool for pricing teams.

6. What is Prestige Pricing and Is It Right For You?

There are a lot of pricing strategies available to you. So many, in fact, that it can be a challenge just picking the ones you want to test. This blog explores prestige pricing, one such strategy that can tap into shoppers who want luxury products—and are willing to pay for them.

7. Shelf Placement: How to Get Your Products Where They Need to Be

It’s not a secret that getting your products onto store shelves is only part of the battle. It doesn’t guarantee a sale, and there’s still a lot of work to do to get those products in the right place inside physical stores. This blog was popular because it covered how to get the ideal shelf placement for your brand.

8. 5 Steps to Gain More Control of Your Shelf Space

Shelf space was a hot topic in 2021. We refreshed this blog, first published in 2017, to include new tips and tricks to gain more control over your shelf space. Check it out to learn questions to ask, how to use shoppers to your benefit, and the importance of good data behind your shelf-space decisions.

9. What is a Perfect Store? Create a Strategy That Wins with Consumers

What defines a “perfect” store is different for many brands and retailers. To give you an advantage in creating a winning shopper experience, we dove deeper into perfect stores to figure out how to align product, pricing, place, promotion, people, and process to increase sales.

10. eCommerce Pricing: How to Price for Marketplaces vs. Your Website

Pricing can get complex. We wanted to simplify things a little bit by creating this guide to marketplace vs. website pricing. Check this out if you happen to sell products on an Amazon, eBay, or Walmart as well as your own site. You’ll get some good ideas on how to tailor prices to fit each channel.
