Budweiser Brewing Group removes plastic rings from can portfolio

Budweiser Brewing Group has removed the plastic rings from its entire range of cans.

The company’s Budweiser, Bud Light, and Stella Artois brands now feature recyclable wraps.

Research from the brand found that, when considering plastic rings, 56% think of wildlife trapped in them and 53% think of ocean pollution.

When asked more broadly about single-use plastics, 82% of consumer believed the reduction of the UK’s consumption of them to be important and 27% said they feel guilty when they buy products with single-use plastic.

The company said that despite increasing desire to buy plastic-free products, the Coronavirus pandemic has had a negative impact on “the fight against plastic”, with 33% of consumers believing it has “slipped down the media agenda”.

The research also found that 49% of consumers believe it should be easier to make plastic-free choices and 46% believe brands should be doing more to help them reduce their plastic consumption.
