Amazon Opening 100 New Operations Facilities To Prep For Q4 Rush

Amazon plans to open 100 new operations facilities this month, encompassing fulfillment centers, delivery stations, sortation centers and other sites. The e-Commerce giant also is creating 100,000 new regular full- and part-time jobs in its operations network, with many of the new positions at Amazon’s newest state-of-the-art sites, according to an Amazon blog post.

The new jobs offer a starting wage of at least $15 per hour, and in select cities, Amazon is offering sign-on bonuses of up to $1,000. For full-time employees, the company offers benefits including health insurance, a 401(k) with a 50% company match and up to 20 weeks’ paid parental leave. Amazon also offers a Career Choice program that pre-pays 95% of tuition for courses in high-demand fields.

Amazon, which has been one of the primary beneficiaries of the COVID-19 surge in e-Commerce sales, has been on a hiring spree throughout 2020. The company announced it would be hiring 100,000 workers in March, and reported that it planned to hire an a additional 75,000 in April. In August, Amazon revealed plans to invest $1.4 billion in tech hubs in six U.S. cities, creating a total of 3,500 new tech and corporate jobs.
