U.S. mall operator files for bankruptcy

CBL & Associates Properties has filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection with both assets and liabilities in a range between $1 billion and $10 billion. The mall operator announced a restructuring agreement with bondholders in August but that wasn’t enough to avoid its bankruptcy filing.
