This article is brought to you by Retail Technology Review: Optiseller helps eBay sellers with ‘Good‘til cancelled’ policy.

From 1 April this year, eBay introduced its new ‘Good ‘til cancelled’ policy for all fixed price listings.  This means sellers are not forced to re-list after 10/20/30 days -- the listing will continue indefinitely every 30 days until the item sells out or is manually cancelled.

Craig MacCallum, CEO of e-commerce experts Optiseller,  believes this new policy could result in sellers being charged for listings that are not generating any sales: "As you are not forced to re-list you will continue to be billed for all listed items, even those that are not selling."

Fortunately Optiseller has a solution to the issue.  As part of the Optiseller platform, a suite of software tools designed to increase online marketplace sales, an aged listings report highlights any static listings that have seen no sales over a 30 day period; the seller can then decide whether to give them a boost by refreshing and relisting or remove them.

MacCallum added: "With many sellers having hundreds of thousands of items in their inventory it can be virtually impossible to track all renewal dates.  Our system automates the whole process; just set up the parameters and let it run."

Sellers can take advantage of the report, and other tools focused on improving listing data quality, by signing up to either Optiseller's Essential or Advanced plans.
