FDA Warns CVS, Others Against Selling Unapproved Eye Products
September 14, 2023
The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has issued warnings to eight companies, including CVS Health Corp and Walgreens Boots Alliance, for producing or marketing unapproved eye products. These products, falsely claimed to treat conditions like conjunctivitis, cataracts, and glaucoma, pose heightened risks as they can bypass natural bodily defenses. Some of the eye products were labeled to contain silver, which, if used long-term, can lead to permanent discoloration of the skin and eye tissues.
