May 2, 2024

Summer is upon us, and so are the latest LEGO Technic sets. JB Spielwaren has unveiled a selection of advanced builds for enthusiasts, including an exciting addition to the Space theme. All new sets will be available on Aug. 1, though they are available to preorder now.

First up is the Koenigsegg Jesko Absolut set (42173), boasting an impressive 801 pieces. Car enthusiasts will appreciate the intricate details of this model. This toy pays homage to a top-speed hypercar, offering young builders an engaging experience. It features a movable V8 engine, differential, and detachable steering knob for hands-on exploration of engineering concepts. The dihedral synchro-helix door system mimics the real hypercar’s door movement. Designed for kids aged 10 and above, it includes the LEGO Builder app for immersive 3D model interaction.

Next, the Volvo FMX Truck & EC230 Electric Excavator set (42175) offers a substantial build with a whopping 2,274 pieces. This set promises hours of construction fun for those who enjoy large-scale projects. This LEGO set includes a flatbed trailer, an electric excavator, and a charging station for immersive building projects. Builders can open the truck’s doors and tilt the cabin to reveal its 6-cylinder moving piston engine. They can then maneuver the truck into position, detach the trailer, and roll off the excavator using a fold-down ramp. The excavator has opening doors, swivels 360 degrees, and features a pneumatic pump for lifting and lowering the scoop. Kids can simulate modern construction sites by lifting and lowering the charging station with the excavator’s scoop and chains, preparing to attach it to the electric excavator.

For fans of high-performance vehicles, the Porsche GT4 e-Performance set (42176) features 838 pieces and meticulous design, offering a challenging yet rewarding build experience. This LEGO race car is a remote-controlled toy model known for its speed and interactive features. Operated through the CONTROL+ app, it allows kids to control steering and lights and receive live data feedback while honing their driving skills. With opening doors and functioning lights, the detailed car offers an immersive experience. It’s designed to introduce young builders to engineering concepts and comes with the LEGO Builder app for 3D model viewing and progress tracking. Suitable for kids aged 10 and above, it’s an ideal gift for those interested in racing toys and vehicles.

LEGO is also introducing the NASA Apollo Lunar Roving Vehicle – LRV set (42182), comprising 1,913 pieces. This set allows builders to recreate a piece of space exploration history. The set offers a detailed display model of the lunar rover module from Apollo 17, accompanied by three attachable equipment sets. It allows users to unfold the rover, add equipment, and test steering and suspension, providing a glimpse into moonwalks and sample collection. Features include a model battery pack with heating and cooling elements, a TV camera with antennae, a communications unit, tools like a shovel and drill, and LEGO Moon rock elements. Additionally, it includes the Traverse Gravimeter Experiment and pays tribute to Big Muley, the largest rock sample brought to Earth by the Apollo program. Aimed at adults who enjoy immersive building projects, it’s a realistic LEGO Technic model of a lunar rover, offering a mindful assembly experience with authentic details.

Each set offers its own unique challenges and rewards, catering to a wide range of interests within the LEGO Technic community.
