Amazon Formally Unveils Second Prime Day Shopping Event of 2023

Amazon is hosting a 2nd Prime Day shopping event this October to kickstart the 2023 holiday shopping season.

Amazon is preparing for round two of Prime Day after seeing its biggest-ever day of sales during the summer installment. The company plans to host the Prime Big Deal Days shopping event this October to consumers across 19 countries. 
 
In addition to the U.S. and UK, Prime Big Deal Days will take place in Australia, Austria, Belgium, Brazil, Canada, China, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, Luxembourg, Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Singapore, Spain and Sweden.

Amazon hosted Prime Day in the fall for the first time in 2022, unofficially marking the official (earlier) kickoff of the holiday shopping season. The company is likely betting that the positive response to the summer Prime Day will carry through to the fall event — and that it will be even bigger given its proximity to the holiday season.  
 
Data from Adobe Analytics showed that U.S. consumers spent a total of $12.7 billion during this summer’s Prime Day event, a 6.1% increase over 2022. Amazon reported that Prime members purchased more than 375 million items worldwide through promotions and discounts across home, fashion, beauty and other categories.  

Amazon also said that the summer installment of Prime Day was the largest ever for its independent sellers. Some of these companies, including Caraway, True Classic and Tushy, reported an 18X increase in average daily sales on Amazon during the first day of Prime Day when compared to the days leading up to the event.
