Nationwide Recall of Robitussin Cough Syrup

January 25, 2024

In a recent announcement, the American subsidiary of the U.K.-based consumer health company, Haleon, issued a nationwide recall of its popularly used Robitussin cough syrup. The recall is a safety measure following the discovery of microbial contamination within the product.

Although it’s a common household item for cold, flu, hay fever, and other respiratory allergies, the recent event demands immediate attention, particularly for those with compromised immune systems. These confounding microbes lurking in the product could potentially result in severe or even life-threatening fungal infections.

While most users are unlikely to suffer serious health consequences, the company has not dismissed the possibility of infections that may necessitate medical intervention. Hence, the precautionary recall.

The recall specifically targets the Robitussin Honey CF Max Day Adult and Robitussin Honey CF Max Nighttime Adult products. This includes a 4-ounce bottle with the lot number T10810, set to expire on Oct. 31, 2025. The same product, but with an 8-ounce bottle size and lot numbers T08730, T08731, T08732, and T08733, will expire on May 31, 2025. Another 8-ounce batch with the lot number T10808 is expected to expire on Sept. 30, 2025. Lastly, the Robitussin Honey CF Max NT Adult 8-ounce variety under lot numbers T08740 and T08742 is due to expire on June 30, 2026.

If you’ve recently purchased any of the recalled products, Haleon explicitly advises you to refrain from using them to avoid potential health risks. The company remains available for queries related to the recall, providing a toll-free number 800-245-1040 active from Monday to Friday, 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. ET. Alternatively, you may reach out to them via email at mystory.us@haleon.com.

This unexpected recall is a wake-up call for consumers to be vigilant about the products they use and consume, especially those related to health and well-being. Regularly check the news for updates and announcements like this to ensure you are not using any recalled products.
