McDonald’s and Crocs Announce Collab Inspired by Iconic Characters
November 14, 2023
McDonald’s and Crocs have debuted a collaboration featuring some of McDonaldland’s most iconic characters from the 1970s. The footwear is a must for any child of the decade, featuring clogs in brightly colored hues connected to the characters they represent.
The line includes shoes dedicated to a trio of characters beloved by children of the 1970s: Grimace, Hamburglar, and Birdie. A fourth shoe features the fast-food chain’s iconic colors. The shoes representing Grimace are purple, the Hamburglar Crocs feature white and black stripes, and Birdie’s shoes are bright yellow.
The entire McDonald’s and Crocs collection includes the shoes mentioned and custom Jibbitz™ charms representing a favorite menu order. Fans can also add pairs of brightly colored socks featuring the characters mentioned above to complete the look.
McDonald’s corporate site shared details regarding each style of shoe available for purchase. Three are the traditional Croc style, while the fourth is a sandal.
The first is the Grimace x Crocs Cozzzy Sandal, which is inspired by the purple best friend of Ronald McDonald. The sandals are lined in purple faux fur, similar to the beloved character’s. It features Grimace’s loveable expression on the straps and a charm featuring the character’s favorite treat, a shake.
The second, Birdie x Crocs Classic Clog, is in the tones of the character’s signature yellow and pink. Attached is a charm featuring Birdie’s favorite menu item, a McDonald’s Egg McMuffin. The third pair honors Hamburglar, the lovable thief of McDonald’s hamburgers. Those shoes are black and white striped and come complete with a hamburger charm.
Finally, if you can’t choose which character you like the best, McDonald’s fans can don a pair of traditional red and yellow clogs in the chain’s signature color scheme. These can be paired with charms featuring a favorite McDonald’s order, including Chicken McNuggets, fries, or a Big Mac.
The partnership with Crocs is McDonald’s second fashion collaboration in recent months. Back in August, McDonald’s partnered with British skate brand Palace to release limited-edition branded merch.
Crocs has collaborated with other food giants, including Taco Bell, Kentucky Fried Chicken, 7-Eleven, Hidden Valley Ranch, and Peeps. The company has also joined forces with popular entertainers such as Justin Bieber, Luke Combs, Drew Barrymore, KISS, Psy, Ruby Rose, Bad Bunny, G Flip, Post Malone, Diplo, SZA, Karol G, Saweetie, and Jimmy Kimmel.
The new McDonald’s shoes will be available to purchase on the Crocs website starting today. The cost runs between $70 and $75, while the socks will set you back $20 each.
A portion of the money made from the sales of this collaboration will be donated to Ronald McDonald House Charities. Ronald McDonald House supports families of children needing serious medical intervention by giving them a place to stay, free of charge, for as long as necessary.
