August 18, 2023
Pickleball, a sport combining elements of tennis, ping-pong, and badminton, has become the fastest-growing sport in the U.S. with 8.9 million players as of 2022, an 85% increase from the previous year. To meet the rising demand, a report by the Sports & Fitness Industry Association (SFIA) and Pickleheads suggests that over 25,000 new pickleball courts will need to be built at an estimated cost of $902 million in the coming years. The sport’s popularity spans various age groups due to its easy-to-learn nature and low-impact play, and it has gained a social component, attracting millennials, Gen Z, and seniors alike.
