Candy cane suppliers fail to meet demand this Christmas

Not only are candy cane manufacturers dealing with the same sort of labor shortages and supply chain bottlenecks affecting other consumer products categories, but as it happens winter holiday non-chocolate sales, which include the peppermint twist delights, are up more than 34 percent year-over-year. Consequently, Hammond’s Candies, the largest candy cane maker in the U.S., has made the tough decision to stop taking new orders, and Doscher’s Candy Co.’s workers could only produce about 70 percent of the candy canes ordered this season by Sam’s Club.
