Social media scams target young adults

Social media shopping fraud grew to more than $1.2 billion last year, according to the Federal Trade Commission. Consumers between 18 and 29 are the biggest victims of these scams. “Gen Z has grown up with a phone or iPad in their hands,” said Christine Halvorsen, a managing director at Protiviti. “They’re very comfortable buying things online, and they’re very trusting of that.”
