Amazon’s New Feature Enables Sellers To Create Listings Through a URL Using AI

Amazon introduced a new feature on its platform last year, leveraging generative AI to assist sellers in creating listings with ease and speed. With just a few words about their product, sellers could have the rest generated automatically. Now, the e-commerce tech giant is streamlining this process further by enabling sellers to create listings directly from a URL if the item is already listed on the company’s website, as reported by TechCrunch.
The online giant’s latest innovation uses generative AI to extract information from an item’s URL on external sites and automatically generates an Amazon listing. The feature is currently being brought out in English to sellers in the U.S.
On its blog, the company said, “In addition to using sparse amounts of text or an image to generate listings, we are now launching the ability for sellers to simply leverage their existing listings by just providing Amazon with a URL, which is automatically parsed by our generative AI-based features, to seamlessly create high-quality, engaging listings for Amazon’s store.”
Last October, Amazon introduced a new feature for advertisers using generative AI via text prompts. During the rollout, it highlighted that a contextual background for an item could yield a 40% higher click-through rate than a white background.
In its recent announcement, Amazon said that over 100,000 sellers have experimented with generative AI tools. The company shared that 80% of the time, sellers accept suggestions from AI-powered tools.
Amazon isn’t the only company leveraging AI-powered tools linked to products for advertisers and retailers. Last year, Google introduced a feature tied to product imagery, while eBay rolled out a tool with the capability of generating listings from product images. Additionally, Shopify launched its AI-powered image editor for products earlier this year.
