A leading Glasgow city-centre destination, St. Enoch Centre, has been awarded a prestigious international Green Apple Environment Award for the third time for its environmental achievements.
Competing against hundreds of other nominees, St. Enoch Centre has been recognised for its ongoing commitment to sustainable practices including the creation of a Green Ambassador team, enhanced waste management processes and comprehensive staff training.
The Glasgow shopping centre also took part in Grounds for Recycling, an innovative industry campaign which sought to tackle food waste in the hospitality and tourism sector during the 2023 UCI Cycling World Championships. From 25 July – 13 August the grounds of coffee purchased from St. Enoch Centre vendors were delivered to Glasgow’s Botanic Gardens to be transformed into compost.

The Glasgow destination will receive a Green Apple trophy at a ceremony held in the Houses of Parliament in November 2023, where its achievements will be cited as ‘best practice’ for other businesses to follow.

The Green Apple Environment Awards are run by The Green Organisation – an international, independent, non-profit, non-political environment group that began in 1994. It aims to recognise, reward and promote environmental best practices around the world.
