Save A Lot Implements Supply Chain Solution to Minimize Stockouts

Save A Lot is optimizing its supply chain with help from SymphonyAI.

Discount supermarket chain Save A Lot is rolling out a new data-driven supply chain solution from SymphonyAI in an effort to better meet shopper needs and minimize stockouts and substitutions.

Save A Lot has implemented a number of SymphonyAI’s Retail CPG solutions, including master data management (MDM), core merchandising, insights, vendor portal and retail operations. With these new capabilities the retailer will now have real-time inventory visibility as well as data synchronization tools, a unified order management system and access to complete store and channel insights.

“At Save A Lot we have undertaken a strategic transformation from grocery retailer to licensed wholesaler,” said Jennifer Hopper, CIO at Save A Lot in a statement. “With SymphonyAI Retail CPG technology we get best-in-class solutions and can evolve to full end-to-end supply chain optimization that best supports our owner/operator retail partner network while giving us enhanced business agility, efficiency and scalability.”

Save A Lot operates approximately 850 stores in 32 states across the U.S. In December 2021, Save A Lot completed its transition to a wholesale model following the sale nearly 300 corporate-owned locations to new locally based retail operating groups that are continuing to operate the stores under the Save A Lot banner. The company retained 18 stores in its home market of St. Louis, Mo. to serve as test sites for new innovations and programs.

Save A Lot is now undergoing a modernization effort alongside its independent license owners to redesign all its stores by 2024. The partnership with SymphonyAI follows on a collaboration with RangeMe in July 2022 to enhance and expand its product sourcing processes.
