Canada Goose, Net-a-Porter Aim to Extend Product Life with New Resale, Repair Programs

Canada Goose and Net-a-porter have launched new recommerce programs.

Premium brands Canada Goose and YOOX Net-a-Porter Group have both rolled out new programs to showcase the quality of their products and reduce waste as part of ongoing sustainability initiatives. Canada Goose has launched a resale program powered by Trove. YOOX Net-a-Porter, which launched its own resale program in fall 2021, has now partnered with The Seam to offer its customers repair and alteration services as well.

The new Canada Goose Generations resale program allows customers to trade in Canada Goose outerwear and apparel they no longer need as well as shop an assortment of pre-owned styles, including vintage pieces from the brand’s 65-year archive.

“Canada Goose Generations is our purpose in action — a tangible and meaningful way to keep the planet cold and the people on it warm,” said Carrie Baker, President of Canada Goose in a statement. “We build products that last a lifetime and each one has a story to tell. Generations extends their collective tale while minimizing their environmental impact.”

Generations is now live in the U.S. and will expand to Canada later this year. Customers can trade in Canada Goose products online, where they will be assessed and authenticated. Compensation will be delivered in the form of a Canada Goose gift card that can be used online and in stores across the U.S.

The new resale program is part of Canada Goose’s ongoing HUMANATURE initiative, which also encompasses existing programs including repair services and the Resource Centres Program, through which excess fabrics and materials are donated to communities across Canada.

The YOOX Net-a-Porter banners NET-A-PORTER, MR PORTER and THE OUTNET are launching a dedicated customer care and repair offering in partnership with The Seam. The service in now available for womenswear at NET-A-PORTER in the UK and will be available for menswear and womenswear at MR PORTER and THE OUTNET by spring.

The service includes clothing alterations and repairs, bespoke customizations, and care and repair for handbags, footwear and jewelry, with most services completed within 7 to 10 days.

The debut of UK care and repair services follows an expansion of the brands’ resale offering, which launched in 2021 and is powered by Reflaunt. Resale is now available in the UK, U.S., Germany, Hong Kong, France and Italy, with further market expansion planned for this year. NET-A-PORTER and THE OUTNET also offer instant buy-back for women’s designer handbags.

“We believe that beautiful fashion from past seasons can be a building block of our customers’ future wardrobes,” said Alison Loehnis, Interim CEO of YOOX Net-a-Porter in a statement. “NET-A-PORTER, MR PORTER and THE OUTNET are renowned for curating the most exciting luxury fashion, and we take pride in offering tips and tools to make these pieces last. Our care and repair service in partnership with The Seam is designed to ensure that the pieces our customers buy from us can be cherished for years to come.”
