Grocery Outlet Teams with Uber for On-Demand Delivery

Grocery Outlet teams up with Uber for on-demand grocery delivery.

Value supermarket Grocery Outlet has teamed up with Uber to pilot on-demand and scheduled delivery at 72 of its stores across California, Oregon and Washington.

“We think it’s important to make our great-value products available across another platform and to a greater audience, introducing Grocery Outlet to customers who may not have shopped with us before,” said RJ Sheedy, President of Grocery Outlet in a statement.

Customers can order through either the Uber or Uber Eats apps, and pilot participants will receive a $0 delivery fee on their first Grocery Outlet order of $30 or more.

“Our goal is to provide a reliable and affordable grocery delivery option that works for everyone, no matter your budget,” said Oskar Hjertonsson, Head of Grocery at Uber in a statement. “We see our partnership with Grocery Outlet as an opportunity to do just that by delivering customers the brands they like at the Grocery Outlet prices they love, on-demand, right to their door.”

Uber first launched its grocery delivery service in July 2020 after closing on its acquisition of Cornershop. Since then, the company has expanded its offering across the U.S. through partnerships with retailers including Southeastern Grocers and Albertsons Companies.
