As Amazon continues to steal significant market share in most product categories, many retailers find themselves on their heels desperately seeking an antidote to the online behemoth’s growing dominance. Investing in the long tail , improving web site performance and reducing shipping time and pricing are tactics being pursued to neutralize the threat. More recently, though, quite a few retailers are upping their private brand game. Store “owned” brands are hardly new.
