Saks OFF 5TH and Rent the Runway have teamed up to provide Saks OFF 5TH customers with access to pre-owned designer fashion. A curated collection of pre-owned merchandise from Rent the Runway, spanning hundreds of styles from more than 60 designer brands, is now available in a dedicated section of SaksOFF5TH.com at prices up to 85% off MSRP.
All items being offered have been deemed “excellent condition” by Rent the Runway and will be identified on SaksOFF5TH.com by a Rent the Runway-specific badge. Rent the Runway’s garment science team uses data to optimize cleaning programs and methods to increase garment longevity.
The partnership builds on the findings from a recent survey of Saks OFF 5TH customers, which discovered than more than 70% of respondents had previously purchased pre-owned clothing, shoes or accessories. Additionally, 80% of those customers said they’d be interested in buying pre-owned items directly from Saks OFF 5TH.

Working with Saks OFF 5TH will help Rent the Runway expand the resale platform it launched in mid-2021. That service also was launched in response to customer demand, in this case for more sustainable apparel options. At that time, Rent the Runway CEO Jenn Hyman reported that twice as many customers had mentioned sustainability as a reason for using the service in June 2021 compared to March 2020.

Rent the Runway also has a resale partnership with thredUP that offers thousands of different styles from more than 500 designers. This service includes access to thredUP’s closet Clean Out service, which provides shoppers with free Clean Out Kits that let them sell unwanted garments directly to thredUP in exchange for store credit.
