Derbion, a prominent retail and leisure destination in the Midlands, is set to enhance its offerings as JD, New Look, and Ann Summers prepare to open new concept stores. This move is part of Derbion’s strategic efforts to reposition its offerings and bolster support for both existing and new retailers, ensuring optimal store footprints and locations to maximise visitor numbers and sales.

JD, a leader in trainer and sports fashion retail, will significantly expand its presence at Derbion by more than doubling its current 9,397 square foot space. The new 20,175 square foot flagship store, scheduled to open in the fourth quarter of this year, will host a variety of major brands including Nike, Adidas, The North Face, Jordan, and EA7.

New Look is also making a strategic shift within the centre to a new 10,000 square foot location that will open this Autumn. The new store will offer a full range of womenswear, including the 915 brand, concessions, footwear, accessories, and lingerie.

Ann Summers is relocating to a new store within Derbion, embracing the latest in retail design to enhance the shopping experience.

Beth McDonald, Managing Director at Derbion, shared insights into the centre’s leasing strategy, which has significantly transformed Derbion’s retail and leisure offerings over the past three years. This strategy has seen the introduction of new brands such as Frasers, H&M Home, and Rituals. “Our strategy has always been to broaden our range of retailers while simultaneously supporting existing brands to realise their full potential through best-in-class stores,” McDonald stated.

James Air, Director and Head of Group Acquisitions at JD, expressed his enthusiasm for the expansion. “We are delighted to have secured a fantastic new JD store in Derbion, which will have a footprint that is 50% larger than our old store, while featuring our very latest store design.”

Peter Rodgers, Head of Retail at New Look, highlighted the importance of the new store’s location. “We are pleased to be opening in a new location in Derbion and look forward to welcoming our customers through our doors again. At New Look, we are focused on executing our omnichannel strategy, and having thriving stores in convenient locations to our customers is a key part of this.”

A spokesperson from Ann Summers also shared their excitement about the upcoming store, “We have invested in enhancing our store estate through relocating to new locations, repurposing, and right-sizing existing stores. We look forward to celebrating the opening of our new Derbion store with our customers soon.”

In 2023 alone, Derbion saw investments aimed at new lettings, store refurbishments, and expansions, significantly enhancing its retail landscape.
