FedEx Adds 2,000 Stores to Retail Returns Network

FedEx will partner with Happy Returns to offer the solution provider’s in-person return service at more than 2,000 FedEx Office locations. The program, which will let shoppers return ecommerce orders from Happy Returns without a box or label, will launch in Los Angeles and expand across the country by the end of October.

Shoppers can visit a retailers’ website or HappyReturns.com to receive the QR code necessary to complete the return. The transaction is approved in real time, and in most cases Happy Returns can immediately refund or exchange the item. FedEx will then aggregate box-free items from multiple retailers into a single shipment to reduce the cost of the returns process.

The partnership will quadruple the size of Happy Returns’ Return Bar network, which previously consisted of traditional retailers, shopping malls, campus bookstores and office buildings. Items returned through the service are sent to one of Happy Returns’ two regional processing hubs, which use proprietary software to accept, sort and process commingled returns.
