Grupo Coppel Adds Digital Financial Services for U.S.-Based Mexican Community

Grupo Coppel, which operates one of Mexico’s largest department stores, Coppel, as well as a major banking network in the country, has launched Coppel Access — a mobile wallet designed to provide millions of unbanked and underbanked Mexican consumers in the U.S. with mobile financial services. Developed with Grupo Coppel’s U.S. affiliate, Appriza Pay, and financial solution provider Alviere, services include payments, physical and digital debit cards, free checking and remittances to Mexico.

The remittances can be sent directly to recipients’ bank accounts or collected in person at more than 10,000 locations in Mexico, including over 1,250 BanCoppel locations and Waldos.

“By providing FDIC-insured accounts for international remittance, Coppel Access continues Grupo Coppel’s 80-year-old mission of improving its customers’ lives,” said Adrian Jaimes, CEO of Appriza Pay in a statement.

“Coppel Access is a prime example of how brands can bring financial services to their customers, becoming more central in their lives, and filling a need for the community,” said Yuval Brisker, Co-founder and CEO of Alviere in a statement.
