Lab-grown breast milk could be an infant nutrition game changer
May 22, 2023
Biomilq has found a way to create breast milk in a lab. The startup has numerous regulatory and other hurdles to overcome before being distributed to the public. Bioomilq’s timing seems fortuitous after the U.S. experienced an infant formula shortage in 2022. Maryanne Perrin, a professor who studies human milk at the University of North Carolina Greensboro, said that Biomilq has “the potential to be a game-changer” in infant nutrition if the company can distribute its product at a price that parents can afford.
