C-store recognised for community role during lockdown

Jay’s Budgens in Crofton Park, South London, has received an award from Time Out London magazine to recognise its community role during the coronavirus pandemic.

The store was named a Top Community Kingpin of 2020’s lockdown in the Time In Awards, which celebrate the heroes of the pandemic. The magazine said: “We wanted to pay tribute to the people, places and initiatives that have kept this city going during the months of not going out.”

The store, which is run by Pratik Patel, tweeted: “Can’t believe we won.”

One customer added: “Great to see my fab local shop Jay’s Budgens win a Time Out London prize, they really are a great bunch and have been so supportive over lockdown.”
