Amazon going to use small businesses to make deliveries

Amazon.com plans to work with thousands of small businesses, including bodegas and florists, to deliver its packages. The retail, logistics and technology giant is recruiting small businesses in 23 states including Alabama, Alaska, Arkansas, California, Florida, Iowa, Indiana, Illinois, Massachusetts, Minnesota, North Carolina, North Dakota, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, South Dakota, and Washington.

New Amazon Delivery Driver Hub Partnerships

The e-commerce giant is pushing forward with a new Amazon Delivery Driver Hub that aims to cooperate with local businesses, by using their resources to make deliveries.

Amazon is urging all businesses, especially small businesses, by noting that drivers need no experience, no long-term contracts, and weekly direct deposit payments.

Through proactive recruitment, Amazon is targeting florists, cafes, clothing boutiques, and more, primarily in the states:

• Arkansas
• California
• Florida
• Iowa
• Indiana
• Illinois
• Massachusetts
• Minnesota
• North Carolina
• North Dakota
• New Jersey
• New York
• Ohio
• South Dakota
• Washington

Amazon Delivery drivers from the retailer’s network drop off packages to participating businesses. The primary requirements that the participating business must have are:

• Have a secure storage area for the packages to be held
• The business must deliver a minimum of 30 packages per day, 7 days a week (not counting major holidays)
• There is no specific fee that Amazon will pay per package

The e-tailer’s goal is to have at least 2,500 small businesses signed up with the new Amazon Delivery Driver Hub by the end of 2023.
