With less than a week until new eBay Item Specifics mandates come into force, e-commerce expert Optiseller is urging on-line retailers to take action to ensure their data complies with the new rules.
A whole raft of new Item Specifics in the Home & Garden, Fashion, Lifestyle and Business & Industrial categories are being introduced on 22 February.
Richard Falconer, COO at Optiseller said: "The increase in Item Specifics will benefit both sellers and buyers on the platform. For buyers, the ability to search for products in a more structured and specific way enhances the customer experience across the marketplace. For sellers, the changes are designed to increase the search visibility of their listings, so they are easier to find on site."
He added: "Item Specifics will become increasingly important as they are core to eBay's strategy of continually improving the buyer and seller experience. The more data sellers give eBay about what they are selling, the better it can match what buyers are looking for on the platform. Buyers are increasingly using filters to drill down to the exact product they are looking for, and Item Specifics are essential for that."
Updating all listings to make sure they are compliant with the new mandates could prove to be a time-consuming process, especially for sellers with hundreds of thousands of items in their inventory. However, sellers can benefit from using the Optiseller Aspect Finder+ tool.
