The retailer sells groceries and essential items at supermarket prices or better, with leading brands including Coca-Cola, Pedigree, Finish, Walkers, and Andrex.

New stores will open in Whitby, Yorkshire, and Frinton-on-Sea, Essex, which will open on 12 April. These follow two recently opened new stores in Nailsea, Somerset, and Holsworthy, Devon.

In the past six months, the retailer has also launched its first transactional website, as well as a ‘reserve-and-collect’ service available at its stores nationwide.

Phil Briggs, managing director for The Original Factory Shop, said: “Our shops sit at the heart of local life, making a difference in communities. This commitment to store opening targets over the next three years is testament to the importance of convenience stores and the role that our shops play in local life and will help provide more job opportunities locally at a time when they need them most.”

In addition, Alistair McGeorge will be re-joining the retailer as chairman, succeeding Matt Williams.

The Original Factory Shop, founded in 1969, now has 166 stores across the UK.
