Nike Pulling Its Products From Amazon

  • Nike says it will stop selling on Amazon.com, ending a wholesale pilot program that began in 2017
  • The brand reportedly struggled to control third-party listings that kept popping up on Amazon
  • Although 68% of Nike’s annual sales come from wholesale channels, since 2013 its direct business has grown three times faster than top-line revenue

Alibaba Has a Record-Breaking Singles Day

  • The company sold over $38 billion of goods in China on the day dedicated to singles treating themselves
  • The eye-popping number is more than twice 2018’s Black Friday, Cyber Monday and Prime Day volume combined
  • Sales were up 26% from 2018

Facebook Launches Facebook Pay

  • Facebook Pay allows users to store payment information for use across Facebook, Messenger, Instagram and WhatsApp
  • Program rolled out last week on Facebook and Messenger in the U.S., and later will be added to more people and places, including Instagram and WhatsApp
  • Facebook Pay securely stores and encrypts payment info, and users can add a PIN or their device’s biometrics (touch or face ID) as extra security

TikTok Tests an eCommerce Feature

  • New feature allows U.S. users to share a shoppable link within their bio or post
  • It’s reportedly in public beta right now, and only select creators can access it

Tidying Guru Marie Kondo Launches eCommerce Site

  • The Shop at KonMari sells a variety of items that “spark joy” in Marie Kondo
  • Many fans of Kondo’s “less-is-more” approach have commented on the irony
