Too Good To Go is introducing an ‘Ask-a-Friend’ feature, empowering users to enlist others for the collection of their Surprise Bags.

How the New “Ask-a-Friend” feature works:

  • Reserve a Surprise Bag
  • Tap ‘Ask a Friend’
  • Send an invitation link
  • A friend accepts the invitation and collects the Surprise Bag

The anti-food waste organisation said 61% of the users who collect a Surprise Bag were otherwise not planning to visit that store that day.

Sophie Trueman, managing director for UK and Ireland at Too Good To Go, said: “We know life can be unpredictable.

“When plans shift and our users find themselves unable to reach the store during the collection window, now, instead of simply not showing up at the store, they can seamlessly delegate the task to a friend, partner, or family member.

“This enables us to continue driving new shoppers into retail stores every day.”

The company said this latest addition to the Too Good To Go app not only simplifies the collection of Surprise Bags for users but also further helps partners across grocery retail to generate revenue and footfall from surplus food.

As surplus food varies on a day-to-day basis, partners have every day the flexibility to include genuine surplus in Surprise Bags, whatever that ends up being, and can adjust supply up or down on the Too Good To Go Marketplace.

Too Good To Go said the Surprise Bag offers an opportunity to unlock revenue from surplus food and attract new customers, while providing a positive brand experience and the satisfaction of saving good food, knowing they’ve made a positive impact.
