Getir, which has a multimillion-pound commercial deal with Premier League football club Tottenham Hotspur, was once valued at £9.7bn and is among the largest players in rapid delivery, has seen several competitors go out of business.

The Turkish company, which expanded into more markets with acquisitions of firms such as Weezy, BLOK and Gorillas, will reportedly also leave Germany and the Netherlands to focus on its home market.

It had previously streamlined by exiting the Spanish and Italian markets.

Approximately 1,500 UK jobs will be at risk if the plan goes ahead.

According to Sky News, Getir is preparing to make a statement this week. Its sources said that it could involve a sale of its assets or an insolvency procedure.

The firm had previously denied that any form of insolvency was being considered.

In August, it announced a global restructuring to significantly increase operational efficiency and partnered with Uber Eats last September.

Getir has enjoyed a long-standing partnership with Nisa.
