Mars Wrigley unveils campaign fronted by legendary football commentator

Mars Wrigley UK’s has revealed that the legendary football commentator John Motson will front the new campaign for its Sweetstake 2020.

The on-pack promotion returns for 2020 with top prizes of £20,000 and will run across Mars, Revels, M&M’s, Galaxy Minstrels, Maltesers, Twix, Galaxy Ripple, Snickers, Starburst, Skittles, and Extra.

Mars Wrigley has adapted the promotion to make a donation that matches the value of every prize claimed to National Emergencies Trust in order to reach the target donation of £500,000.

Motson lends his voice to commentating on ordinary at-home scenarios including loading the dishwasher, tucking into a book before bed, and a steamy shower scene.

Kerry Cavanaugh, marketing director at Mars Wrigley UK, said: “We’ve all been missing football here at Mars Wrigley and we couldn’t think of a better way to celebrate the resumption of the season by bringing the legendary John Motson and, of course his coat, back to our screens.

“This year’s virtual Sweetstake offers consumers the chance to win millions of prizes and have a lot of fun while doing it. John’s videos are the perfect accompaniment to this activation.”

Motson added: “I’ve been fortunate to commentate on some of sport’s greatest moments over the years. I must admit, though, I didn’t think I’d ever be lending my skills to a setting involving a dishwasher – but I had a lot of fun doing it.”

The campaign has four films and will be activated in online video and social media and kicked off on 15 June.
