The Association of Convenience Stores is calling on people working in local shops to provide their views on employment in the convenience sector as part of its 2021 Colleague Survey.

The survey asks colleagues to provide feedback on their experiences of working in the sector, looking at training and progression, working environments and wellbeing, employment contracts and life outside work, pay, and the benefits of working in the convenience sector.

The research feeds into discussions with the government about the positive impact and value of local shops and the issues faced by people working in the sector.

ACS chief executive, James Lowman, said: “We are encouraging all convenience colleagues to make their voice heard by taking part in our Colleague Survey their views on employment in the convenience sector to help form a clear picture of what it is like to work in local shops.

“The survey provides colleagues with the opportunity to provide details on their experiences and give their views on employment in the sector which can then help to inform policymakers and give their employers a deeper understanding of how they can support their staff. The colleague survey has become an extremely important part of our work and the narrative that we have built for politicians and the media about our industry.”

Colleagues have until 19 February 2021 to respond. All participants will be entered into a prize draw to win one of five £100 One4all vouchers with winners notified by 24 March 2021.

The survey can be accessed online here.
