The Premier-branded store occupies a prominent roadside position in a busy central location close to Basingstoke town centre, a train station and Devonshire Business Park, and is within walking distance of several schools.

Thevarajah said: “I am delighted to have been successful in acquiring this store, my first venture…. Over the coming months, I look forward to serving the local community and building the business and increasing the range of products on offer.”

Property advisor Christie & Co said the store attracted a considerable amount of interest and demonstrated the increasing demand business reported in the retail sector.

Tom Glanvill, associate director of retail at Christie & Co, added: “I fully expect convenience stores to remain in high demand and hope that consumers will continue to buy locally and support the good hardworking business owners who have served them during the pandemic.”

Sherborne Road Stores was sold at an undisclosed price.
