The retailer, working with the Scottish FA (SFA), has designed a competition where a signed shirt can be won, as well as a Q&A with Scottish Women National Team player Lana Clelland, fact sheets, football challenges, quizzes, and many more activities.

The Spar Footie Challenge, which takes place on both the Spar Scotland Facebook and Instagram pages, will also be supported in Spar stores with PoS directing customers online. The Scottish FA will also be sharing the activities and have an online hub of activities with Spar branding.

Spar Scotland chief executive, Colin McLean, said: “We know many are missing the football and we wanted to create a bit of fun for football fans along with helping the SFA promote the players of the women’s team. We hope children will be excited to take part and maybe some adults too.”

Clelland added: “I live in Italy and they were obviously affected badly by Covid-19, but we are beginning to come out the other side now.

“When we were forced to stay inside I kept practicing my skills indoors and have shared some challenges which hopefully encourage youngsters out there to give them a go.”

The Spar Footie Challenge will run until Tuesday 15 July 2020.
